Did you know...
In 2008, the AMA started fining riders $500 for taking a piss behind the starting gate at national events.
Then they started providing porta potties closer to the starting line. Are you kidding!!$500 for a piss!! WTF?
A guy would need to be top 4 to make enough money to cover the fine and his entry fee. They ought to make
the fine relative to the lousy purse and only fine them 50 cents!

In the eyes of Live Nation and the AMA, that the riders are not considered VIPs?
If the riders aren't "Very Important People" then who is? What would a Supercross be without the riders?
Riders are not allowed to park in VIP parking and Live Nation is moving toward making riders pay $30 to
park their cars. (This after they we've already been charged $200 to race!) At San Francisco they said they
provided free parking a good 20 minute walk from the stadium, but once we got there, the parking
attendants didn't know anything about it. At Houston it was pay the $30 bucks or don't park. Meanwhile,
VIPs were allowed to park for free right across the street!
If you complain loud enough, they might give you a VIP sticker.

Supercross is Big Money for Promoter Live Nation
On July 30th 2007 the Sports Business Journal published a very detailed article on the business of
Supercross( Revved up and on a roll). The article states that Live Nation brings in over $44 million dollars a
year on the Supercross series! (It's a shame they only pay the riders about $1.3 million for the year.) Over
$20.8 million dollars comes from ticket sales, $14.2 million from sponsorships, $8.3 million from
merchandise and another $1.1 million from television.
At the Supercross Banquet last year, President of Live Nation Sports, Charlie Mancuso, said it costs about
$1 million dollars to put on each SX event.
For 2008 the AMA Supercross purse increased $4,485 to $89,350 per event. If Live Nation were to
quadruple the purse to $5.4 million dollars per year it would still leave over $20 million dollars profit to Live
Nation and instead of $89,350 per event, the riders would get $339,460. For you Lites riders, instead of
making $250 for being in the show, you would get a minimum of $1000. Maybe then riders could afford to
get to the next race!
